Cost Explorer
The Cost Explorer tab provides an interactive view of cloud spending, enabling detailed analysis across different time periods, cost sources, AWS services, and individual resources. Flexible filtering and visualization options make it easier to investigate spending patterns, compare costs over time, and identify the factors contributing to overall cloud expenditure.
Filters
The displayed cost data can be customized using the following filters:

Group By – Controls how cost data is aggregated.
- None displays the total cost for each selected time period without additional categorization.
- Service groups costs by AWS service.
- Resource groups costs by individual AWS resources identified by their resource ARN.

Granularity – Determines the reporting interval.
- Daily displays one data point per day.
- Monthly displays one aggregated data point per month.

Date Range – Defines the reporting period for the analysis.
- When Group By is set to None or Service, cost history is available for the previous three months and the current month-to-date.
- When Group By is set to Resource, history is limited to the previous 14 days and the current day.

Cost From – Selects the cost source for analysis.
- AWS, Amorphic, Amorphic Infrastructure, and Amorphic Application correspond to the cost categories described in the Overview page.
- Custom Tag filters costs using a specified AWS cost allocation tag by providing a Tag Key and Tag Value.
By default, Cost Explorer opens with Group By set to None, Granularity set to Monthly, Cost From set to AWS, the Start Date set to the first day of the previous month, and the End Date set to the current date.
Cost Visualization
The Cost Visualization chart presents the results of the selected cost analysis in either a bar chart or line chart, allowing spending trends to be viewed across the chosen reporting period.
When Group By is set to Service or Resource, up to five services or resources can be displayed simultaneously. The selector above the chart can be used to choose which items are included for comparison.
Cost Breakdown
The Cost Breakdown table presents the detailed cost information for the selected filters, grouping, and reporting period. It supports sorting across the displayed time periods and includes a search option for quickly locating a specific service or resource.
When grouped by Resource, the table displays the top 20 cost-contributing resources, while all remaining resources are aggregated into a single Others entry.
The Visualization and Cost Breakdown table apply the same filter selections. While the visualization displays up to five selected items at a time, the Cost Breakdown table includes all relevant cost data independently of the chart selection, subject to the grouping limits described above.
